Why I built Red Swan Tutor
With over 20 years of teaching and testing English proficiency, the students I most wanted to help weren’t the ones at the top of the class. They were the ones who struggled to stay motivated, who felt overwhelmed or left behind, or who simply had too much else to study to find time for English.
I built Red Swan Tutor for them. I wanted to take the boredom, the stress and the sense of obligation out of learning English, and replace them with something enjoyable: short lessons, practice that feels like a game, and tests that show you how far you’ve come, in small steps that fit around the rest of your life.
Built with our users
The idea came from students themselves. I noticed that many of those most at ease with English were gamers. They had picked it up through play, without ever thinking of it as learning. Games were everywhere in their lives, and they loved them.
So I asked myself: why not bring learning into the world students already enjoy? Red Swan Tutor is led by its students. We’re not here to tell you how to learn; you tell us how you want to learn. Students want to improve, and they know what works for them. Our job is to listen.
Your progress, your pace
Many students improve their English through self-study, alongside everything else they’re learning. University students and young professionals in particular have to fit English around a busy programme.
Red Swan Tutor was designed with them in mind. Work independently, at your own rhythm and in short sessions, and save your time with tutors and teachers for the difficult patches, when their help counts most.
Learn it, remember it, use it
Red Swan Tutor combines three kinds of activity: learning in the Lessons, practising in the Park, and testing yourself in the Airport. Moving between them keeps your mind active and alert and helps new language stick, so you don’t just learn it, you remember it and can use it when it matters.
